Children’s Church Bible Study (ages 5+)
Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there. -Matthew 19:13-15
Children’s Church emphasizes fellowship and teaching at the appropriate level and maturity of our children. It’s important for people to fellowship and learn to the degree of their own understanding. The Bible teaches that we are to first teach believers the foundational truths of the Word and then introduce the “meat”; in depth teaching. The purpose of children’s church is to give them milk and prepare them for meat. The kids learn the whole Bible as we go from Genesis through Revelation in a 4 year span.
Children’s Church is not a passive separate part of the church, but active part of the body of Christ.
It is very important to teach the children in the Word of God in their early age. Timothy was educated in the Scriptures as a child and started serving the Lord in his youth. (“And that from a babe, you know the Holy Scriptures, those being able to make you wise to salvation through belief in Christ Jesus” 2 Tim 3:15) That is why teachers and helpers in Sunday School, along with parents, are teaching children about God showing by their own experience that He is the only hope in this life and in the life to come.
God is not just giving us an advice to teach children He commands us to do so.
And these Words which I am commanding you today shall be on your heart. And you shall teach them to your sons, and shall speak of them as you sit in your house, and as you walk in the way, and as you are lying down, and as you are rising up. -Deut 6:6-7
That is why the goal and the vision of our Sunday School is:
To Know God & know HIM well!!!
And this is everlasting life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.” -John 17:3
All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, so that the man of God may be perfected, being fully furnished for every good work.” -2 Tim 3:14-17
In our Sunday School, we use the Word of God as our curriculum, because we can find the answers to our daily and practical needs for adults and children. The curriculum is the Word of God and how to apply it in their lives. Active teaching that is a center of our lessons at Sunday School involve children in the educating process – helps them to learn more about God’s character; helps them to imagine themselves in the place of the heroes of the Bible and understand what they experienced and learned; helps the children find the truths of the Bible and apply them through the games, songs, crafts and fellowship with each other…
To Love the Lord and Serve Him
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul” and with all your mind, “and with all your strength.” This is the first commandment!” -Luke 12:30
If they hear and serve, they shall spend their days in good, and their years in pleasures.” -Job 36:11
We teach the children to have relationship with the Lord in our own example and help them to grow in Him. When we love the children and show patience we show them Christ and the way they should treat others.
We involve children in serving in church and encourage them to witness to their friends and relatives.
Our hope and prayer in the Lord that the children of our church will know the Lord, will love Him with all their hearts and will serve Him from these days on till the end of their lives.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. -Psalm 119:105
